Henri Matisse's work reflects an independence of thought and inventiveness that deeply resonates with our values,’ emphasises Lionel Aeschlimann, Senior Managing Partner of the Mirabaud Group. ‘With its long-standing roots in Paris, Mirabaud is proud and honoured to be able to support the Centre Pompidou in presenting this major exhibition at a key moment in its history.’

In order to continue contributing to the Centre Pompidou's influence, including during the renovation period of its historic building, Mirabaud is pursuing its commitment alongside the institution and supporting its major exhibitions presented as part of the Constellation programme, at major cultural venues in Paris such as the Grand Palais, as well as in France and internationally. This support is part of a long-term relationship based on a shared vision of art as a vehicle for openness, innovation, and the exchange of ideas.

Stéphane Jaouen, Head of Mirabaud Wealth Management France, adds: ‘Our partnership with the Centre Pompidou illustrates our belief that art plays an essential role in broadening horizons and transforming perspectives. It is fully in line with the spirit of innovation and independence that has driven our firm for more than two centuries.

Founded in 1819, Mirabaud is today an international banking and financial group – owned and managed by the seventh generation of its founding family – offering its services from 14 major cities around the world. The spirit of dialogue and personalised exchange that lies at the heart of Mirabaud is fully expressed through its support of art and artists. True to its commitments, the Group forges close ties with cultural institutions, artists, and major artistic events in the countries where it is present. These partnerships and exchanges also reflect Mirabaud’s innovative and long-term approach to its management activities.

Art plays an essential role in our society: it invites us to look at the world differently and to question our certainties,’ says Lionel Aeschlimann. ‘This spirit of openness is at the heart of our commitment. We want to support exhibitions that mark their era, broaden perspectives and can be shared with the widest possible audience.’

The exhibition

Drawings, cut-out gouaches, illustrated books, textiles, stained glass… Matisse, 1941–1954 highlights the prolific final years of the artist’s creation. At 80, Henri Matisse reinvented himself once more; never before had he explored such a variety of techniques and media. The exhibition presents three hundred works of extraordinary freshness and vitality, drawn from the rich collection of the Centre Pompidou, private collections, and national and international institutions – some assembled exceptionally for this show (the series Interiors of Vence; the Jazz album; the monumental panels of La Gerbe, Acanthes, the large cut-out gouache figures such as The Sorrows of the King, the series of four Blue Nudes…). In a state of constant metamorphosis, the exhibition journey is experienced as a visit to the heart of an artist’s studio, seized by a feverish urgency to create.
