Organised within the context of the Yacht Racing Forum, the purpose of the Prix Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image is to recognise each year the best photographers in the world and their most beautiful sailing snapshots.
Created in 2010, the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image is the leading photography competition dedicated to sailing as a competitive sport, honouring the most beautiful photographs taken during the year. These must reflect the essence, aesthetics and dynamism of the sport.
149 photographers spanning 25 countries participated in the 2016 edition of the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image. Jean-Marie Liot, from France, won the main award, whilst the delegates from the Yacht Racing Forum and World Sailing’s annual conference chose Nico Martinez’s photograph for the Yacht Racing Forum award. Christophe Huchet won the public award, based on the votes on Facebook.
The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image has recognised seven photographers since it was founded: Thierry Martinez, France (2010 and 2011); Kurt Arrigo, Malta (2012); Abner Kingman, United States (2013); Alfred Farré, Spain (2014), Nikos Zagas, Greece (2015), Jean-Marie Liot, France (2016) and Sören Hese, Germany (2017).
Since it was founded in 2007, the Yacht Racing Forum has become a leading annual meet-up for top-level players in the competitive sailing arena. Mirabaud supported the event the first two times it was held. This successful collaboration continues today within the scope of the Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image.
