Founded in Paris in 1974, the Contemporary Art Fair gathers together some of the most important modern and contemporary art galleries on the international scene. All media are represented: painting, sculpture, photography, installations, videos, performance art and digital arts.
FIAC brings together almost 180 galleries from some 30 countries representing around 4,000 artists from every continent. The 45th fair will be held between 18-21 October 2018 at the Grand Palais, Paris.
Mirabaud’s partnership will extend to the "Hors les Murs" ("Beyond the Walls") programmes, which allow artists to present works in public spaces and prestigious Parisian institutions. As a result the iconic Place Vendôme is home to a major artwork by artists Elmgreen & Dragset.
Mirabaud's involvement in the FIAC art fair is further evidence of its active support for contemporary art and is the ideal complement to the art collection the Group has been building up for the last several years and the various partnerships which connect it with artistic institutions.
Reflecting on mankind's place in the world and engaging with artists are exactly the values that have guided Mirabaud since its foundation nearly 200 years ago.
FIAC: Elmgreen & Dragset will transform the Place Vendôme
For the 45th Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain, (International Art Fair, FIAC) in Paris, at Place Vendôme, Elmgreen & Dragset will install 100 red starfish scattered around the square. In contrast to traditional monumental public sculptures, the work, titled To Whom It May Concern, adopts the horizontality of minimal land art and subtly takes over the plaza like a swarm of friendly intruders.
